Which laptop?

I'm gonna be needing a new laptop when I head off to college in June, so I was wondering what some of my better choices would be and if there's anything interesting or worth waiting for coming around the bend. My budget's probably gonna be around 1k and I was looking at some Thinkpad's. Thanks.

Welcome to the AOA forums jacksonwalters!

Now that introductions are out of the way...I don't have a clue when it comes to laptops as I've never personally owned one. Not enough power or speed for me...LOL
So I'll have to pass this on to one of our members that knows about laptops & the latest developments in technology that would work in your favor.

Something you need to add to your post...
What will you mainly be using the laptop for?
Are you going to want to do any intensive 3D gaming?
Do you want the battery to last a long time on it?

See where I'm going with this....Next!

Thanks for the intro, glad to be here.

No games, would prefer it to be light w/ a long battery life.

Have a look towards the Dell XPS systems they have a nice M1330, and if the price looks good, there are a couple of very thin and light sony's with decent battery life

Need to know what you want as features, and what type of thing you are going to do, be it web and word, graphics design, programming and compiling or something else.
