Scored!!!

Our contracted IT person has been moving from apartment to apartment with 4 kids and was tired of hauling all of his hardware around, so...
drum roll...
he gave most of it to me!
I scored:
1. Server case with HD cage and 5 SCSI drives & 2 power supplies.
2. CTX Workstation with powersupply, Pentium 3 sytem on an old Asus board and 40 Gig harddrive, DVD rom & CD Burner.
3. Pentium 4 2.8Ghz LGA 775 processor
4. 10 assorted hard-drives
5. fully functional Pentium 3 computer with Win 2000
6. box full miscellaneous parts, cables, optical drives, keyboards, mice, etc.

See, when you are poor, there is still an opportunity to find new hardware.

I'm just one motherboard short of a real server.
and one motherboard, Power Supply, and RAM short of a new gaming machine

What do you need in a mobo, PSU, & Ram?

Well, for the gaming machine:
1. Socket LGA 775 motherboard with SLI (cause I got two Geforce7600's)
2. 500watt PSU that supports SLI
3. Whatever RAM the mobo supports, hopefully DDR2

Thats about it.

And just in....
I scored my first laptop from work. We had an extra dell Inspirion 2200 that my brother used. He was in a roll-over accident and the laptop survived, but its not in the best condition. So all I need is a hard-drive (newegg) and I'm off

$25 dollars each isn't bad. I've used a few Lenovo's and I like them. Specially the little mouse knob. Do you think they are older models?

Scored again!!!
2 weeks ago a co-employee notices a business moving out across the parking lot. Yesterday they offered me 6 Pentium 4 computers, 10 montors, a slew of keyboards and some cheap speakers for $50.
How could I resist?
So now I have so many computers to play with it could be a full time job.

After examining all 6 machines, I found that they are not all Pentium 4's.
Mostly Athlon CPU's and I can't tell what kind. They are the old 64nm processors. But there is one Pentium 4 Celeron and one Athlon Socket A. A bunch of 200 watt power supplies, PC 100 RAM, AGP 2x video cards, and 1999 Fujitsu hard-drives.
Some heavy steel cases and generic motherboards, I think they are intel.
So any ideas of what I could do with them?
I don't mind installing Linux and giving them away, but you know, most people don't know Linux.
Also, I've had issue installing Linux on older hard-ware, but I don't mind giving it a shot.
