DDR3 Confusion

Please try to understand because even though I wrote it down, I don't!
Ok, looking at different brands-G.Skills, OCZ, Crucials, Patriat, PNY.
4GB [2x2GB kits) DDR3 1333-now is when the numbers don't match between brands.
Some will be pc3-10666 or 10600.
They might have a c. latency of 9 with timings of 9-9-9-24 1.65v and be High performance or not depending on brand.
Or they may have a c. latency of 7 and timeings of 7-7-7-20 1.7v and be HP or not.
I am so confused!
These numbers mke no sence to me.

Different companies have different rating methods. Most things stay the same as you think it should. I will usually try to end up with the sticks that have the tightest timings at the lowest voltage if I am not sure exactly which IC I am looking for. Some will try to pass off lower binned IC's as a higher speed just by applying a lot of voltage (Which is why you won't see OCZ in my rigs)

From others I've read-they said just about the same thing, unless you've tried and tested one on your board-it's going to be apples and oranges but if you have to flip a coin, go with the one that has the lowest timings, don't pay all that much attention to gaming quality, use a Name to be trusted. Sound about like what you had to say? I'm not going to buy but it would be nice to know what to look for when I do.

I would look around at the EVGA forum and see what kind of results others are getting from different sticks.

For the most part I will shop for my memory by the IC's they are using on the sticks. Once you find which IC's work well with the board you can narrow down the choices to a couple of manufacturers
