Sata drive not seen at post

What might be the reason that, posting up, It says no Sata devices when the HD is Sata plugged into The 1st port (1 and 2 are open) The bios recognizes it and of course it's the C:\ drive? It's not something that seems imporant but It just don't seem right.

It's connected as the Primary? How is the jumper on the HDD configured? "Solo," Master, Slave? Assuming that SATA drives still require jumpering.

It doesn't have any jumpers. It's my understanding that it's like Cable select. It just depends on which port you plug them into.

SATA hard drives do not use jumpers as it is only one drive per channel/cable.

I am a bit confused, the hard drive shows in BIOS but not during POST?

I just rebooted to take a closer look. This is Jmacron PCIE to SATA ll SATA Controller Bios trying to detect an eSATA drive. Don't ask. This was just before bios--- where my Sony DVD is Master IDE and my WD 500GB Sata is plugged into SATA 1 (AO)
I haven't had the time or interest to hook up the other DVD. On only one channel-It drives Windows nuts. I've figured it out before but that was when I was curious if I could do it. I've done it, don't quite remember how at this point but it can sit there until I want to put it somewhere else.
