I'd be more concerned if the ID chips were made by the Germans :P

Sooner or later a government will insist upon RFID-ing all citizens. Radiant future indeed.

Technology could turn out to be their greatest weakness. Pull the plug and they're powerless.

Ah remember Marcusa! (Radical Berkly Professor in the 60's. Spiritual inspiration to many a radical liberal) Basically he said

"The more complex a system is the more dependent it becomes, in all it's parts, on EVERYTHING working as it should...or nothing works....."

One need not destroy a car, just stop it from reaching gas, one need not destroy an oil field, just put one break more in the pipe than they have repair crews, or further away from the repair station than those crews can walk to repair it... just break the circle and the wheel stops rolling...":O}

Also bear in mind that less that 10% of the American's of their day were active contributors or protagonist in our war of Independence.

In short, it doesn't many nor must they do all that much to bring down an unpopular government.

I had this discussion with a client when he was complaining that his network was malfunctioning. Apparently everytime someone restarted the main computer some things would stop working, like shared printers.
