PSU--CPUepox9NPA??

my pc desktop is around 5 years old. this is a pc that i have made myself. my motherboard is a epox 9NPA it has worked well. on the motherboard i got LED thats a power status of the CPU,CHIPSET,DRAM , LED (light up when turned on) but the CPU LED do not come on all the time when the LED light up the pc boots up fine and runs ok but if the CPU LED dont light up the pc starts up but nothing shows up on screen i have to unplug the psu then plug back in then try again. the motherboard has a CP80P 80 port debug LED this show FF when the CPU LED do not light up.

i think its the enermax 600W psu could i run the system on a enermax pro+425W not sure if i could? system is my signature

Hey sasrob, good to see you on the board! Can't recall what "FF" means, sorry. Personally, if I had your hardware, I wouldn't try to run it with a 425W power supply. Think you need more oomph!

FF is the uninitialized code of the Port 80 status display. Basically, the CPU isn't coming up far enough to even initialize.

Yeah, it's a power issue, but whether it's the PSU or the mobo, I can't reliably say.

Have you checked the mobo for bulging caps?

As the man said, 425w is to light. 500w "might'' be enought but why risk it?
A member recomended the Antec 650w in my sig a while back. I have since built 4 rigs with that PSU. A good solid performer that works right every time-no mater what I hang on it.

Your welcome!
Make sure your PSU is a good one otherwise-well you know the problems.
I'm no expert-I can only recomend the one I'm useing. You can chk other threads and find other PSU's that are recommended.
Pay attention to any recommended by ccperf721p. Local expert on PSU's and where I got mine from.
That's the best I can do for you-good luck!
