OSU Ditches "Primitive" Silicon Circuits, Unleashes Organic Spintronics

New plastic device stores information using magnetism, could eventually replace traditional memory

When people think of a magnetic strip performing a useful purpose, the first thing to pop into mind might be the little strip on the back of their credit or debit cards. Now a new type of magnetic technology could transform the way our computers run.

Smaller, lighter, less power draw, let's get this tech into a computer near you!

It's a type of chemistry - basically involving chemicals that have carbon in them.

Maybe we're missing the fact that vanadium is involved with this very impressive leap forward? The stuff is poisonous.

It's not like poison by the pound comes out of the side door at Intel, etc.

Ironically (geddit?) quite a few foods contain Vanadium. Whole grains, seafood, meats and dairy products are the typical ones. There's a few others, including spinach and parsley that contain higher levels.

It should also be noted that if you eat anything intel makes, you're likely doing it wrong.

And voiding your warranty.

And in for an upset tummy.

And Darwin would argue you could use some IV Vanadium along with some Cyanide.

... Although I have heard of some people in Mexico using Intel Netburst CPU's to add flavor to their Nachos topping... Apparently jalapeño's just weren't hot enough!
