Thumbs down Who woulda thunk it

When you upgrade from dual-core to quad-core, you have to reinstall windows to get it to detect the 2 new cores. This is both on win7 and vista.

what a PITA

Sorry to dissapoint you but back in the days of E4300 I replaced it with a Q6600. Was using Vista 64bit and I didn't had to reinstall in order to have the quad recognised and fully used! In fact I even bench the system with some video encoding and it was way way faster. Something weird happened in your case mate!

I've heard that linux community came up with better implemented security in it's latest Linux Mint Gold version, it's actually preventing the user to log in, thus posing 0 risk in contamining the computer with malware! Well done to the open source community!

i never ran in to that problem. just uninstall the cpu driver in device manager and reinstall it.
