SLI and Physx card?

I just picked up a GeForce 9600 GS for free and was thinking of popping it in my supercomputer as a Physx card.

I currently have 2 GeForce 9800 GT's in SLI

So would a 9600 GS work as a Physx card in my 3rd PCI-Express slot?
Is it even worth trying?

None of these cards have a 6 pin power connector.

At least a quad cpu mate! CPU is the bootleneck in your case.

nope... and this is my "Super Computer"... at least 4 years ago it was.
Sucks because I spent $1300 on this machine for upgrading and now it doesn't support PCI-Express 2.0, SATA 3 6Gbs, etc.
I could upgrade to quad-core though.

I think that 9600 will end up in another computer.
I was just wondering if it would work or not.

I havn't tried it yet. I may just build another budget gaming machine for my lan parties. I was more curious to see if it was even worth trying...
As game become more multi-threaded and utilize even more physics, then I'm sure it will be worth it.

Are there any "purpose built" Physx cards? Like a Hulamagotcha brand Physx card?

Does this mean that they've incorporated the Physx tech into their Vidcards? Or do they make a stand alone King Physx card?

From what I have read... I think they are utilizing the existing GPU's for physx, specially if you have multiple card. Nvidia keeps tweaking the drivers to use threading in new ways.
they say the 8800 and above automatically supports physx with the correct drivers, but now you can have one card do the 3D rendering and a second card do the physx

The technology is still primitive the secondary card doesn't run strictly offloaded physics instructions like they would want you to believe

Yeah, I think its all a bit primitive right now.
I have been playing Stranglehold (John Woo game) and almost everything in the game is destructable and includes physic capabilities.
It runs great on high resolutions and two video cards. I can't imaging a 3rd card actually helping...
