I have 3 90 gig Corsairs. When brand new they bench in Disk utility at speck Which I is 555 Read and 505 write. After you load the drive it does slow down to some thing mearly hundreds of times faster than the fastest mechanical drive...this drive contains 61 gigs of data.

Mint LOVES it!! Whadda think! LOL

After the Drives partitioned it will only run Read tests
I don't shut down nothing, for a casual bench Why Should I ? ":O}

I went with a Sabertooth Z77, wanted a board for at lest three years...I like to age with my hardware...":O}

I ended up going for an entire new build,You pretty much have to, every spec has changed, some are backward compatible, but then you lose the advantages you paid for. Except for my beloved Lian LI case. She stands in the perfection of slow time...":O}

Example:

I kept my Rather nice in its day 8800 GTS.

I bought some games at 70Cents a gig....and my card can't play at lest one of them...

My Mother board with TWO PCIe 3.0 slots is waiting for my explanation....here it is Sabertooth! I'm broke! It's going to take a half off sale to budge me.... And proof I need a Good Video card at all!

On the other hand, Z77 comes with USB 3, once you experience this little gem you will NEVER buy a USB 2.0 drive of any kind again...I'll come back with one or two USB 3.0 examples.

This is a transfer of a 12 gig Plus Music file from my Sata III 90 gig HD to my Brand new and very first 64 gig USB 3 Corsair voyager GT...

I'll post pictures then do the same on my 16 gig 2.0 USB drive, non GT, I didn't understand when I first bought these that there's a huge variance in speed, so the 16 gig is non GT, so this won't be a good straight up compare. Again I'm listening to music and messing about as it does it's thing...in a little over 5 mins.

wow, that is a very nice board! You put the extra $100 from Windows into a long lasting Asus board! Nice job!
I couldn't afford that with my budget. I went with AMD and a cheaper board. Still has two PCI-E and USB 3.0 and still a lot of power. Yours is definitely faster with the Intel chip.
You have plenty of room to upgrade as well

Here's a Joke on me! fortunately it was only a joke! See time estimates as transfer from my SSD to my 16 gig Voyager 2.0

Watch the transfer speeds as things creep forward and it just gets worse as the drive fills...It's still going..lest give it the benefit of the doubt and say it only has a minute to go! ":O}

1000Mbps is pretty good for data transfer. I don't even get that on my gigabit network.
I will get around 300Mbps

If you got Sata III and USB III with your board you should be in good shape for Storage and inputs.

I use to try for incremental hardware upgrades. For me, this almost never worked out well. This upgrade that seemed especially true. New 3.0 for PCIe, USB and SATA. New Z77 chip set, New BIOS interface, every thing was NEW! LOL

At lest new to my shopping list. If I don't upgrade my MB then my Sata III NEW SSD's run at half speed. I won't have USB III, my system speed won't be matched to my hard drive or other inputs speed. This time, more than ever things looked pretty much all or nothing to me.... Now if I can just prove I need a Graphics card for Linux games...

Cuda Cores are they the same as CPU cores?

My 8800 GTS has 94 Cuda Cores. a second tier Nvidia card going for 3 to 4 hundred dollars has 1350 cuda cores...The heavy movers have 3500+ Cuda Cores!!!

Wonder why I can't play newer games? ":O}

I have always said "spend more on your motherboard now to save on upgrading later".
I have seen it too many times where someone wants to upgrade to a 2nd hard drive or a new video card or even more RAM.
Unfortunately their Power Supply sucks and there is no more DIMM slots or they have AGP... all because they skimped on the motherboard.

I spent $250 on my Asus P5N 32 Plus because I knew I could upgrade.
I can still upgrade to a quad-core CPU, add 4-8 more Gigs of RAM and even upgrade my 2 GeForce 9800 GS to newer cards...
I specifically got that board too because both PCI-E can run at full 16x.
I rarely see that with modern boards... they are always 16/4 or 8/8

You did GOOD!
By the way, "new" games are overrated and expensive. I always wait at least a year to get the "new" games.

The new wow is coming out in a few days and I have to say I'll probably wait. This is the first expansion that they have released that I'm not excited about.

In a few years you'd be able to play them, unless you fireup that windows machine you've got there
