I've just watched a report on Financial News Asia about that in the last hour. It's an interesting move, but I have to wonder if it's a bit late. Leveraged buyouts are always risky, and pulling Dell off the NASDAQ isn't exactly conventional. There seems to be considerable speculation/doubt regarding the potential of the play.

The thing that might make this successful is Microsoft's particpation, but one has to wonder what part of his soul Michael had to sell for the deal.

I can remember some years ago in the financial printing business handling some offerings for MSD Capital [MD's holding company]. The difference was that then, everything Dell did turned to gold. What a difference a decade makes.

In youth we seek the fire, in age we try to see though the smoke and understand where we've been...

I have to wonder if, even if he 's wholly successful, if he will truly recapture the fire, do we want in age, what we wanted in youth?

Well here's hoping only good comes of this!

Most likely it means that Dell wants to go through some major change, and they must think it is best to do that in private, avoiding the speculation and the negative effects that can have.

Seems like a big risk, but I guess that is better than a slow death as they are.

AFAIK, Dell machines aren't as high quality as they used to be. Let's hope that Mr Dell makes better boxes!

I hope so because my work still uses Dell for servers and workstations.
I've never been thoroughly happy with their performance, but besides the bad caps of the Optiplex's they have stood the test-of-time.

Everyone else is going tablet and phones... so maybe they are going that route?
