noisy drive

my no.2 folder's hdd makes a very metalic clicking noise from time to time ...once every hour or so


drive going bad??

I have 2 20gig 7200 HDs. Both make a odd clanking sound twice in the middle of shut down. However, if it is during normal operation..... not good. back up data, just in case.

You should at the very least do a chkdsk. I had a blackout last night and when my machine recovered, it would take something like 15 minutes for Windows to load. After playing around with a lot of stupid stuff, I realized that there was something going on in the disk. I did a chkdsk and it found a boot file was on a damaged sector. I fixed it and it's been purring like a kitten since.

there is nothing on this computer that i need to save... im going to let it run, i guess we will see how long the drive will last
