Monitor making high pitched whine at 60Hz

I got a new 19in trinitron last week, and when i first got it it was fine, but now it is starting to make a very hight pitched whine whenever it is set to 60hz. Its fine otherwise, but at 60hz its horrible. Any ideas. Monitor going bad?

Nah, I've heard that before, I'd first ask why it's at 60hz?? Is it only during bootup? How loud is it really??

I first noticed it at boot up, but didnt think much of it as it wasnt very loud. Then i rebooted a few minutes ago, and it was REALLY loud. I got into windows and it quite when the refresh changed. I thought it might be the resolution, so i tried 640x480, and it was fine. I set the refresh back to 60, and it was there again, really loud. I went back to 85, and its gone. Left it there for a while, and then went back to 60 and it seems to be gone again. I think it must just be a warmup thing.

As for how loud, when i first hear it it was just barely there, coudnt really hear it, but what got me worried was when it got to the point that it kinda hurt my ears because of the pitch / volume.

Sounds like a warmup issue. If this a new monitor, fresh from the box, don't worry.. if it dies then it'll get replaced or will stop making the noise...

If it's used, try to return it/get a refund. No sense chancing it if you don't have to.

Seems to be just warmup, but i can reboot, after being on for an hour, and it will be there, but once i have been in windows for a while i can switch to 60hz and its fine. I found a fix to the problem though. I just switched the outputs so the 19in is on the #2 output on my video card. Thatway it is off untill i hit windows, the 17 can handle bootup, then in windows i have the 19 set as primary. The only problem with this is im running my primary off a DVI to VGA adapter, but i dont think it will cause a problem.
