Question Best PSU brand name?

I'm going to build a new home system using a Intel P4-478pin 2GHz (Northwood) CPU. I've read several articles stating that the PSU is more important for the modern CPU than previously. I was leaning toward an Antec 400 or a Sparkle 400. I read a forum post that said to stay away from Enermax. Why? Any help in stering me in the proper direction would be appreciated.
Also, are there any better mother boards than MSI, I hear they are pretty good. (I'd like to try some serious pelter type overclocking).

Thanks in advance

Many say Sparkle are good. And you can't argue with that big of a max wattage on the +5 and +3.3. I have an Antec 300 and must say it is very good about being within spec and staying steady.

Well, the sheer output of the Sparkle amazes me. Their 350W puts out 220W max. on the 5V and 3.3V lines. (That's good )

As for the Antec, the Antec 300W puts out 160W on the 5V and 3.3V lines and that's running my Athlon 1000 right now.

Thank you for your input mrpcman. To me, it sound like Sparkle is highly thought of. I very much enjoy geting feedback from end-users, they seem to tell it like it is. Gee I wonder were Enermax droped the ball on quality? I hope I get more good responses like these, thanks.

WOW sparkle ARE good then if they kick out that much on the 5v and 3.3v!!! does that mean u can get away with a 300 watt sparkle instead of a 400 watt antec?

I have a Sparkle 300w psu and right now I'm waiting for my Antec 400w psu to come in the mail so I can overclock for real again. The Sparkle ran my Athlon 1.2@1.45 (145x10) it did well the 5v never went below 4.78 that was before it got damaged I tried to run a 5a dc fan rigged at 7v with the molex mod , it worked well for a few days but I could see the 5v dropping each day I think it took 3 days to stop working all together. I am using it right now actually it kind of strange the 5v rail has move up somewhat from D-day it now running my 1.2@1.34 (149x9) and the 5v rail hasnt fallen below 4.72. Anyway they are both good I suppose , the Sparkle I had never really had a good v reading but other models are probably much better , I've only heard good thing from Antec thats why my next psu is Antec.

Just make sure that any PS you want to buy is ATX 2.03 compliant. The older ATX 2.01 standard does not run P4's, at all!

enermax's psu's just don't put out the 5v rail like other psu's do.
