I love my monitors

I am now the owner of two SUN GDM 20e20 20" Trinitron monitors.

I'm running them at 1280x1024.

Now for the dumb part.
Two monitors running at 1280x1024 (2,621,440 pixels) sitting next to that P3 800EB that I stuffed into a Mac color Classic, which displays 640x480 (307,200 pixels) on it's internal 10" trinitron. That's a touch over 8½ times the pixel count.

There seems to be no halfway for me. Kinda like back in college when my two cars were a 85 Caddillac Eldorado, and an 88 Pontiac Fiero. One took two parking spaces everywhere, and the other could drive under a Semi trailer. One once seated 10 (very uncomfortably) and the other was at max capacity with Me, two girls, and a Rotweiler (Don't ask... )

(The 20e20's require an adapter that cost like 30 bucks, so don't go buying one unless you want to fork over the extra. You'll probably toast a 20e20 if you use the wrong adapter, so make sure you are right. There are a million different 13w3 to HD15 adapters. There are a few 20e20's on ebay right now, and they are going for 75 to 100 each. http://www.si87.com has the adapter, and they will make sure it is the right one.)

Rotweilers are pretty big, tho' - our neighbour's weighed 12 stone and was about the size of a 6ft man. Dopey thing would sooner lick you to death as bite you

BTW, just noticed you're a flatlander Azriel

Remember, the speed limit isn't 40mph. That's how fast all the Illinois drivers driver up here.

I can't stand it when people crank their res way up. Everything is soooo tiny. Remids me of way back, when all I had was a 14" monitor, and I'd crank it up to 800x600 till my eyes were ruined. Then I got a 15" and 800x600 just was not good enough for me anymore, afterall.. it didn't even hurt. SO, I ran it at 1024x786 at like 45i er something.

Eventually, I obtained my first in a long line of 17" monitors, through a shady little deal with my boss. (I won his divorce for him, and that's about all I wanna say. ) By this time I had learned my lesson, and I finally left the monitor at the res it was designed to do. 1024x768. Now I have 20" monitors, and GUESS WHAT? 1280x1024 is the proper res for a 20. Now if you have a 21, you might want to go higher, but I seriously doubt you'll need to. This res is great for autocad, proE, etc.

The moral?

They are your eyes. Ruin them if you want to. It only took me about 7 years to figure this out, so maybe you'll get it one day too.

The remark? No, tried that once, doesn't work. They prefer that I shut up and take the abuse.

icons man, I mean common who want's to drag their mouse all the way to the corner, click on that little button, and drag all the way to programs, when you could just click on an icon. running at 1600 x 1200 gives you space for what 100+ icons. So the higher the res the more lazy you get to be!

or something
