Overclocking memory question.

I bought some Kingston value ram. Is this brand good for overclocking? I could not pass up the price 29.00 for a 256 stick of ddr pc2100. So I bought 2. I wondering because I keep hearing about volt mod on the dimm. But everytime I even move it one increment above default the system becomes unstable. Also I unlocked my cpu. Overclocked it as you can see below. I have always heard that when you oc you should add more volts. Well I was fooling around with it the other night and benching it afterwards. I found that if I undervolt the cpu -.25 volts it benches faster and I have been able to get my highest 3dmarkse score. And in some scenes in 3dmarkse it was going over 200fps. Never did that before. Is that common? Or in my case just weird ?LOL!

Kingston is actually some of the poorest overclocking ram. I got lucky a couple times getting some PC133 to 144mhz, but that was it and only 2 out of 10 times using that memory (in a client's system).

Kingston is very good, cheap memory if you plan on running default speeds... Good value at stock speed. Never used it myself. Not all memory is good at running with extra volts... There's a lot of mention in forums about overvolting memory. The some of the one's that like it are Crucial's, Samsungs, and Mushkins.

The undervolting of your CPU is actually the reason why faster CPU's have lower core voltages... the lower the voltage, the quicker the voltage drops on a transistor, allowing it to switch faster.BUT.. if you are overclocking the CPU, then you usually need higher voltages to get it stable... I guess all you have to do is get the right ballance of Speed vs. Volts.
