Overvolting your RAM? Sure, it's what all the youngsters are doing these days. Count me out. The stuff is too expensive to take a cattle prod to, IMHO.

Beat this -- At 5V my ram turns into a flaming projectile blowing a hole through the side of my case and proceeding to run at the astonishing speed of...of...of 0 embedded in the wall of my house.:clown:

I'm with you on this one cloasters. I can run my cheezio OCZ at 162 most agressive timings. Runs at 2.8v. I couls jack it up to 3.2v and shoot for the stars, but I'm not into spending money on replacements when I can't even afford the upgrades

for the record> mine tops out at 168 so far...havent gone to 2.9v yet. For the $$ I paid for it, it suits me fine. Scores well at stock and doesn't give me issues. (nanya chips)

And many folks say "the more, the merrier" to jacking up the joltage of everything that helps attain those amazing FSB's. More power to 'em! Uh, wait, they already did that.

The truth is that I can't afford to replace components willy nilly. If I could, I might entertain the idea of grabbing that virtual rheostat and, you know.

Truth be known, I am pretty conservative with my parts. Hate to replace good parts with the same thing I just blew up. I pretty much only run Crucial usually at 2.7V but never more than 2.8V for very short time. Most of what I bought this year has been very capable of reaching 166Mhz at 2.7V on an Intel board.

Edit: Forgot to put in that I use the PC 2100 512Mb variety.

My Crucial 2100 would run 180 with Turbo and 3.1V. Wouldnt run 181 on any settings.

my Corsair 3200 hasnt been fully tried yet but Ive had it up to 200 with normal timings and 3.0V.

3.0v for ram, and 1.9v for a cpu are my magic numbers... I refuse to go any higher for an extended amount of time...

I heard the Samsung chips could do 200+ MHz.

I don't run mine at higher speeds than about 175 though. At turbo settings. A mild overvolt as well, but not much.

hi Allan,

i reckon with 1 stick of 512mb 2700, i can do better than 200fsb. running 2 sticks sort of dampens the latency. but just getting to 200fsb me me feel fuzzy inside .

i'm still buring in these sticks so i haven't tweaked the bios and applied WPCRSET yet.

I've seen a stick of 256MB Samsung PC2700 hit 212MHz FSB! And I've heard rumors of 220 MHz...

I haven't pushed my Samsung PC2100 very hard at all. My H2o
rig, MSI K7T 266 Pro2 R, with 1 stick of the 256mb flavor, has died.
the memory, that is. not overvolted at all on that board. just died.
sorry dealer won't take it back.
was gonna start a thread about how you know when your memory goes away. the dieing mem was causing some strange
anomalies in the display. made me think the vid card was NFG.
the other stick of Samsung 256mb PC2100 is still going strong
in the 8K5A2+ @ 2.6v
