memory question

here I am, about to spend moeny on memory, and I still
don't know what to get. should I base my decision on
Latency? CL2, 2.5, or 3. I see numbers like 2 3 3 5,
3 3 3 8 and wounder what it is I am looking for. I would
think that a decision as to memory has become very
important and should be easier to understand.
the system is an EP8NPA-SLI skt754 DDR3200. in the
future, when I get to DDR2 will the criteria be the same
for choosing memory? TIA.

Typically you want lower latency numbers. This unfortunatly comes at a price. DDR 2 has high latency numbers (5 and up) but crazy speeds.

There are a few chips out there that OC better than others, again at a price.

Someone that has bought mem in the last few months should know what to get. I have some OCZ performance 3500 and it has been all good.

I understand OCZ has recently introduce some CL3 DDR2 800? That would equate to CL1.5 for DDR3200+.....

Winbond BH- and CH- chips (DDR1) are capable of CAS1.5.

Best DDR2 chips are Micron D9 BGA-mount style. 0534 was a particularily good week ;)
(3-2-2-x) or 1200mhz...you decide.

I will have to take a look at this when I upgrade. I have been very happy with this memory...

Will this work in NF2 chipset (SKT A) boards?

I'm not aware of a bios that offeres CAS 1.5 for NF2. DFI 939 boards have it tho.
