pen drive/mem stick format I have a usb pen drive or memory stick that has been written to . it doesn't seem to work the way it was intended and it doesn't let me format or erase it. any idea how to remove the data that is there and clean it up for future use??? Ron |
Good to hear from you, Ron! Maybe you should tell us what brand of USB stick is being troublesome. |
it's a no-name stick that was put out by a local catering co. with a menu of what they offer. it's supposed to open in msexplorer and you can order on line. it won't open in msexplorer, can't be opened in windows explorer and just plan doesn't cooperate. I just want it for transferring small files. I have one (256mb) that I use for everything. Ron |
Sometimes these things have "lock" switch on them. Look on it for one. One thing to try as well is a Knoppix CD boot to that... pop the drive in and format it that way. HTH |

Knoppix a go later. thanx. Ron |
if they were custom ordered by the company chances are the switch is internal, you might be able to crack it open and flip the switch. :) |
Eep, that sounds a bit dicey. |

Muwhahaha. Put it on top of an anvil and swing that hammer. Might want to watch out for shrapnel. |

Thank goodness. We're honored that you're continuing the noble tradition of if it don't work, make it pay! |

That is one of my favorite traditions... We should have a section devoted strictly to items that have met with death due to the lack of cooperation.... |
