Just a theory, but how difficult would it be to adapt the F@H client to run on an nVidia card. F@H + nvidia tesla = AOA @ #1. :D

This sounds similar to the Atari ABAQ of many years ago, in that you could hook up to 16 ABAQ computers together over a shared bus and the OS would automatically distribute the computational load across the machines. It was also touted as a 'supercomputer on a desktop' solution. Atari only made something like a thousand of them or so, IIRC, though.

Hopefully, nVidia will have better luck.

Will I still need to upgrade my video card if I get one?

Gizmo 25th June, 2007 07:17 PM

I get the impression this is more of a computing cluster than a video card solution.

If video cards can be computing clusters and out fold CPU's. why can't clusters be video cards...with a bit of tweaking of course! How would you go about it? How many 80 core CPU clusters one would need to play, say, pong, well, that should be a matter of individual taste and not one of pocket book...don't you think? When will the US Government realize the need to subsidize our hardware! Does Bush think we can afford these clusters without any assistance? Are we less worthy than Halibuton? Are our goals less inspiring than Carl Rove's?

I would be willing to fore-go the frills and just run the basic first...Be nice to reclaim space from these THREE slot HOG 8800's.

Come on guys I'm try to get a conversation going here today! Just find a Sharp point and fall to it...let mere-phrase that...another time...":O}
