Interesting that they went with AMD and no doubt helpful to AMD.

Yes, although that's the specs of the developer's boxes, so probably not set in stone.

Apparently the new PS4 will be announced on February 20th.

Now how did Sony know that was my birthday!

Wow, that is going to be a FAST computer... to bad you can't run Photoshop, UDK, 3DMAX, Sketchup, AutoCAD, Illustrator, InDesign, InCopy, etc etc etc

I wonder if they are planning to stick with their own custom distro?

Daniel ~ 18th February, 2013 08:58 PM

Be nice if they would return to their past co-operation with Linux installs.

booman 18th February, 2013 09:14 PM

They might, but I would rather build a computer with an even-better-upgradable-video-card

Daniel ~ 19th February, 2013 10:43 PM

The advantage is that my what, 5 year old PS3? still plays brand new games as nicely as my current Video card. and gives me a Blue ray player and music box to boot (sorry about the pun).

My Video card cost me as much as my PS3.

booman 19th February, 2013 11:49 PM

My video card didn't and I can get a Blue-Ray drive for $50

I'm glad the PS2 could still play PS1 games but I've heard the PS3 could not...
My PC is compatible with all old and new games & programs.
Can't beat that!

booman 20th February, 2013 06:22 PM

I stand corrected, newegg.com has a Blue-Ray drive for $30
Lite-On Blue Ray

Daniel ~ 22nd February, 2013 08:10 PM

We all have our preferences.":O}

booman 22nd February, 2013 08:20 PM

fine, don't debate with me... but I was looking for heated debate on consoles vs computers

Daniel ~ 22nd February, 2013 08:33 PM

My real problem in PC games is my wrist. can't handle the keyboard and mouse, in the past it's been a huge pain the get PC controllers to work with most games...but it's been years since I've tried and that was in windows...

booman 22nd February, 2013 08:39 PM

I remember you have said that in the past.
I'll have to try a few of my controllers in Mint and see if it works.
I have a sudo-playstation controller and a few flight-joy-sticks
with computers... there is always a way!

I wish they had thrown in a Read/write optical drive...

Anyone see anything as far as the games for PS4? Backward compatibility?

booman 25th February, 2013 06:41 PM

probably because they don't want to add the software to allow you burning capabilities.
Does the PS3 have USB ports so you can backup your save games to a flash drive?

Daniel ~ 25th February, 2013 06:55 PM

It has USB ports for controllers and thumb drives. I don't actually know if you can back up games with USB...never tried.":O}

booman 25th February, 2013 10:52 PM

hmm, look it up.
that would be cool because playing 100+ hours in Oblivion and getting a corrupt save game would be devastating
