Ever considered joining our Folding Team? Could sure use some of that loverly duallie goodness of yours >>

I had 12 boxen crunching genome@home when it folded. Just before that happened my "team" was abandoning g@home cuz they were as high as it was feasibly possible to attain. I had begun DC and then sought a team. I was turned off by crunching for rankings rather than for the scientific benefits. They went on to DF but I'm less interested in the competition as opposed to doing something I believe in.

I'm presently waiting for this to emerge from Beta testing.

climateprediction.net will use a large-scale Monte Carlo simulation to predict Earth's climate 50 years from now. The project is being implemented in a series of experiments. The client is in alpha testing as of October, 2002. A public beta test should begin by the beginning of November, 2002, and a public release should be available by early 2003.

Fair enough :)

The competetive nature in my opinion is a good thing, helps increase output towards the real goal of the project. It injects a bit of fun into what would otherwise be rather dull!

I'm going to give the climate prediction thing a shot when it comes out. It's interesting stuff; what they plan to do. Get on their mailing list and they'll send you a notification when the client software is available.

Can't argue there but I've seen it be the sole reason for DC crunching. Life should be more than a d**k measuring contest after age 16.

MY EYES! THE BURNING THE BURNING! :)

What spec is it Spyder? and is it yours? I thought you were selling off a lot of your machines!

CamoAlien 14th December, 2002 01:48 AM

I suppose it wouldn't hurt for me to post mine, eh?

I'll warn you guys now though, this rig involves no overclocking whatsoever. :p

http://www.uslink.net/~braff/camoalien/EM_front.jpg http://www.uslink.net/~braff/camoalien/EM_inside.jpg

Basically, it is a Tyan Thunder 2500 (s1867dlu3an) with 2x Siemens 512meg Registered ECC PC133, Hercules 3D Prophet 2 GTS 64meg DVI, Sigma Designs Hollywood Plus, Quantum Atlas 10KII 36.4 gig, and other stuff. It also has a DVD drive now, and a SCSI CD burner.

Both of the 120mm fans have been replaced with 120mm 120 volt Comair-Rotron Whisper XL fans. Most of the cables are also rounded, so if I took a more recent picture, it would look pretty cool. ;)

donny_paycheck 14th December, 2002 02:12 AM

Why is it outside?

CamoAlien 14th December, 2002 04:35 AM

I knew someone was going to ask that.

You see, the thing runs so fast that it gets away from me sometimes. I haven't quite figured out how it got up the stairs with those short little legs, but it did somehow. :p

Actually, the lighting was better outside at the time, so I brought them outside and took the pictures. I could have taken them inside, but I hate it when the flash messes with the picture and makes it look bad.

By the way, it is folding for the 2cpu.com F@H team. It just wouldn't feel right using it for AOA when it isn't overclocked at all. :)

LOL how un ethical of you bigred ;)

Anyway, they are AMD and I know how you loathe them!

Joining the FAH team would give us a huge boost, as well as giving your machines a good workout for a good cause!
