Printer Problem

I have a Canon BJC 600 that refuses to run paper through the machine properly. It beeps and the orange lite comes on, I then press the button and it runs all of the paper through at once. Each time it loads paper it fails. Pushing the button by the orange lite makes it work, but it doesn't seperate and run 1 sheet; it runs the whole stack through.

I have another BJC 610 that is available for parts. Does anyone know how to fix this.

Thanks,

Sherm

Robbie's our resident "Printing device" expert, and Aidan seems to know something about everything... maybe PM them and reference this thread...

hmm have you tried not pushing the paper too far in? (used to be a big problem on HPs) i'm not sure about the paticular feed mechanism but i'ld bet that whatever bends/pushes the paper up so that the rollers can seperate the pages isnt working right....

it might be easier to buy a new printer- theyre soo cheap that when theyre on sale it can be worth it to buy them for the new print cartridges they come with :-D

OK OK try "fanning" the paper BEFORE you put it in, and do what drow said and don't shove it in too far.

Sounds like the sep pad has either worn out or or is dirty. If your feeling lucky you can take it apart and clean the feed tire and sep pad with WATER ONLY!!!! do NOT use rubbing alcohol. It "dries out" rubber.

Just use some soap and water and I pretty much can almost guarantee it's going to work.

One of the MAIN probs with HP's is the rubber that they use gets hard and literally turns into plastic. Then it becomes to slick to do it's job of holding back the other pages and feeds all of them at once.

If you have any more questions please feel free to post them.
Rob

**edit** oops you SHOULD be able to run ONE piece of paper threw it at a time. If that is NOT the case let me know then I can guide you in the right direction.

I found the paper tray was out of line and fixed it. The paper now feeds 1 sheet at a time. But it still stops between pages. It beeps , the orange light comes on and it stops. Pressing the on line button starts another page, and when it's done it quits again.

Any ideas on how to fix this.

Thanks,

Sherm

well as the paper moves threw the machine, it's near were the paper exits. Look for a piece of plastic that would be struck by paper as it moves threw the machine.

I'd just pull all the covers off and give everything you can see a good blast of air, possibly an optical paper sensor is dusty or a mechanical leaf switch one has dust in it somewhere.

Mind you you might not want to take my advice, I just stabbed a printer to death the other day. long story
