I assume you have tried degaussing? If you no longer have anything close to the monitor that creates a magnetic field and have already Degaussed then you may be out of luck
any one else have any ideas?

go into your monitor settings from the controls on the front of your monitor. You know the ones that have size, geometry, and convergence and stuff like that. The should be a place where it says degause.

Just hit that. your monitor with sort of flash and then go back to normal. That's it.

The Degauss symbol would normally look like a big magnet with a line over it..

That sounds likely Allan. When pushed it will send your screen into a "spasm" or like a twisted pic then it returns to normal. Magnets are very bad for CRTs. I once used a magnetic screwdriver to point at something on the screen and it still has remnants if the mistake visible 8 months later.

I hope yours clears up. To prevent this in the future you should only use shielded speaker cases.

...and if you're monitor is too cheap to include a degauss option (one of mine is), I know that there are degaussing devices that will do pretty much the same thing, if you are willing to spend the money. Only thing is that I don't know where to get one... Radioshack perhaps?
