Exclamation I Need Help Quickly On A Video Card

I went to order an 8500 le 64mb, and the dealer is out of stock. They want to sell me a 9000 atlantis 64mb (non-pro) for $2 more. I haven't been able to pull up any reviews on the np version. Is this a fair deal, or is that particular card junk. For $20 more I can get the Pro version, but then I feel like I should just get the 128mb version of the 8500le. I really don't want to spend anymore money than I already have.

HELP!

9000non pro is junk, a good deal slower than the 8500LE...9000Pro is still slower than an LE just see if you can find an 8500LE for a decent price

The 8500 LE is a much better choice. Bigger! Newer! "Better!" model numbers do not always mean more capable hardware.

128 Mb of RAM on the Vidcard is useless for GF cards--so far. 128 Mb of RAM on a Radeon 8500 LE is better than 64Mb, like fer sure.

The 9000 runs 200/200, the 9000pro is basically the same but runs 275/275. I think the pro version has better ram.

The prices you mention are a bit out of whack... AFAIK, the price of the 9000pro should be a few dollars more than the 8500LE. The basic 9000 should be CHEAPER. Seems some retailers are trying to rip off customers with the notion that newer is always better.

Stay clear of the 9000, the pro is not a bad option if you can find a better deal, but dollar for dollar, the 8500LE is the best around. Make sure you get the 250/250 version... There are a lot of lesser cards floating around with slower memory.

I have a 9000 non pro (Sapphire Atlantis model). I thought that even though it was slower it had more of the new rendering features of the 9*** range.

It was the best value around when I bought it.

It may only manage 7000 3dmarks but in UT2k3 it will still kick out an avg 30 beatufiul frames a second at 1152*968 WITH a few notches of FSAA and lots of notches of anisotropic filtering. With these disabled I get closer to 40fps. So it ain't junk!

With overclocking I hope to take it further although even the latest version of radeonator doens't work with 9***s yet.
