You shouldnt expect a lot of 3DMARKS with a GeForce 4 MX vid card because essentially it is only a pumped up version of a GeForce 2...I believe you would get a higher score if you had a GeForce 3 Ti 200 card.

On a NON-overclocked XP1800+ with DDR RAM a GF4-MX440 will score between 5000 and 6000 3Dmarks. Enough to play most games at a decent resolution, but as JayJay says a GF3 will do sooo much better..

:/

Sorry to read this, CaesaR. Ouch! Many folks don't realize that any GF MX, be it a GF2 or a GF4 isn't a great deal. For a few dollars more, etc.

Don't feel too bad, many folks have far worse 3DMark scores. 1606 and 3004 were my scores not long ago. Da pain! And I'm not burning down the house now!

A 10000 plus score will be needed to play the next generation of games, probably. Some lucky unmentionables are scoring 14000 nowadays. The nerve!

14228, at stock. Cruel video performance--at least for folks with un-great Vid/CPU hardware.

It's time to consign Nvidia chipsetted Vidcards to the past. I never thought I'd see the day when ATi GPU's performed better than Nvidia's. ATi's drivers were said to be garbage two years ago. Not only garbage, but garbage that was never brought up to snuff!

I read that the GF FX won't see the light of day. The folks that plunked down ~$400 to reserve one will get one, allegedly. Nvidia is caught napping, good for ATi!

For ~$290, the Radeon 9700 kicks posterior in a big way.

For the 128 Mb RAM model of the old 8500LE, $88 shipped from an A+ etailer is a mighty fine Vidcard.

WTH was Nvidia thinking? A jet engine for a GPU cooler---the thing supposedly steals 2, count 'em, two PCI slots that neighbor the AGP slot? The NV 30 has to be a kick butt Vidcard---or Nvidia will be in real trouble.

Don't jump all over the FX yet..... no driver tweaking has been done, the are just running the latest reference drivers. ANd while I am glad to see ATI finally producing good harware with good drivers, I still won't buy one of their video cards. I have a box containing about 5 ATI cards, all the way up to the MaxFury Pro, and they are all crap. ATI always promised more than they could deliver, and while they may be on top today, I'm betting on my past experience that they won't be there for very long. Been taken to the cleaners by their products for far too long, and nVidia stuff always works for me. Not that I am gonna buy a $400 jet engine to make my PC even louder hehe.
