What Graphics card to get?

I'm building a PC for my brother. The setup so far looks like this:

* EPoX 8RDA+
* AMD XP2100+
* 512MB PC2700 DDR RAM TwinMoss
* 60 Gb Maxtor ATA 133 7200RPM HDD
* LiteOn 52x24x52 CD-RW
* Pioneer 16x DVD ROM

I'm undecided on the graphics card though. I'm looking to spend £60-£90 on it.
I've seen an Inno3D GF3 Ti200 64MB for about £60, the regular GF4 Mx440's for about the same, a Sapphire Radeon 9100 128MB DDR TV-Out for £75 or a Sapphire Radoen 9000Pro 128MB DVI TV-out for £85.
Whats the best of the lot for the money and the best match for the rest of the setup? Or any other recommendations?
Thanks in advance!

Hey Lazgoat. Have you already bought the RAM? The mobo would handle PC3200 if you haven't bought already.

For the video cards, I don't know about the Radeons - but stay clear of the MX440. My GF3-ti200 could easily outperform any MX card out there.

No Allan, nothing has been ordered just yet.
As for the PC3200, he isn't going to OC the system (seems a shame I know) so I figure the PC2700 is good enough. I may OC it to 166FSB to get the most out of the RAM but thats about it. He's a bit of a n00b you see!

I figured the MX440 is rubbish, but they are the same price as the GF3 Ti200's! Weired.

Thanks Allan.

Stay clear of those two nvidia cards(they are junk given other cards in the same price range). If you can afford it, a Ti4200 would be a good gaming card... If you can't, the best bang for the buck card is probably a Sapphire 8500LE. There are a lot of models, but if you can find one 250/250 (core/memory) with 4ns RAM, that should be a good performer. Only look at Radeon 9000 or higher cards, if you think DX9 will be important. I think the 9000 (and others you mention) has partial support for DX9... but it doesn't perform as well as the 8500LE.

Sorry, I'm in the USA so I can't offer direct price comparisons.

EDIT: which pioneer are you looking at? If you care about DVD-/+RW support let me know.

Hi SteveI, I was thinking of the Pioneer DVD-119 or the 117. Cant seem to find the slot loading one anymore. Or possibly even the Liteon LTD 165, which is just as cheap (under £30) What do you think?
The Ti4200's are still a bit too expensive, just over £100 for the 64MB variety. I may go for the Radeon 9000Pro 64MB for just under £70.

The 8500LE is superior to the 9000. No question. Any GF MX is bad. A GF4 ti4200 definitely beats a GF3 ti200. A Radeon 8500LE is better than a GF3 ti200, and cheaper than a GF4 ti4200.

Wow, thanks for all the responses. I've managed to get a bit more cash together and I've ordered an Inno3d GF4 Ti4200 64Mb version. Its got TV out so we can use it to watch movies on TV, hopefully!
The whole setup shuold be here tomorrow. I'll hate to see it go to my brother! sob sob!

Laz.

My last card was a Leadtek Winfast A250 GF4 Ti4400, and I swear when I used to pull out, and put in my old ATI Radeon 8500 (64MB Retail box) it LOOKed so much better then the GF4 Ti4400. Yes the GF4 Ti will run faster, and score much better on 3DMark2001SE, but for depth, texture, rendering, and clarity, the Radeon is in a class by itself. 3Dmark2001SE is a 7min non-interactive program, but gaming is a hobby which can last for hours and hours. The 8500LE seems to me like the best advice, because DX9 is so new, he won't even fully benefit from it beyond running a few demo's. And if your not getting the 9700/9800 Pro, the DX9 capabilities on the 9100/9000Pro is non-existent, only 8.1.

 I commend you on your choice of other items, the Lite-on is Right-on, and Pioneer 16x DVD is high quality player (transport/DAC's). However, even if he doesn't plan on overclocking PC3200 can be on sale, in some cases for less money then PC2700!!! And for the few dollars more spent (if that's the case,) he'll benefit much more down the road, especially since the board is spec'd to run DDR400. I'd get it anyway, and don't even tell him, he he.
