Now, I am well aware of the controversy over Mad Onion, I just ain't a gonna go there, but here are the scores. I did 11,00 max with the Ti4200 when it was cranked up full bore. This is not overclocked. (damn card's too expensive to risk.......yet!)

Looks like you'll be having some fun with that card.

How loud is it, in your opinion?

with that card you should be getting at least 4-5000 in 3dmark03. What do you get in 01?

I have a feeling the '03 score is with AA/AF enabled (if not it is way to low).

Pesonaly I just adore the Nature test from '01 in high resolutions and lots of AF. I could watch that all day...

I definitely need to do some tweaking on this card.......any suggestions? I'm really weak in this area, so be gentle. I'll try anything though!
Yes, this monitor rocks!

THe Nature in '03 is pretty cool as well, I like both.

Sure nature in '03 is fine. But I must say I prefer the scenery in '01.

As for tweaking, is your '03 score without AA/AF? Check the Direct 3D tab in the display properties to see what settings are forced. Could also be that vsync is active, lowering your score in gametest one greatly.

Do you get a decent framerate in Nature ('03)? Mine is fine most of the time, but occationally drops below 20fps, which of course pulls down the overall experience greatly!

And your score should definitely be well over 5000 - I get 5500 with a athlon xp@2231MHz/radeon 9700np@370/303 and that is without any special tweaks.

Thanks for your help, not sure what AA/AF is, tho! Here is a screen shot compilation of some of the settings and the result (dismal!) I have frame rates down around 1 at times in most all.
On another note, what about settings in the BIOS (7NJS Chaintech board): I have it at stock voltage but have all the way from 1.5 to 2.0 as well as the AGP freq. I can go from default to 100 MHz I believe.

There's the possible culprits:

Bob, crank those Antialiasing and Anisotropic sliders all the way to the left and then rerun your benchmark.

Uncheck texture sharpening too.

That seems more resonable.

Just remember to turn the settings up again when playing games (or using other 3D applications) as they are what you (or someone else) payed for! The difference is in my opinion very obvious, however 4x AntiAliasing is quite enough.

Good luck with your new card, I´m sure your scores will go several hudred points up once you find the right settings. Not that a benchmark resault really matters that mutch, but then again you are here so you are not supposed to be sensible about such matters.

As for BIOS settings I really wouldn´t touch them. Only lock the agp to 66MHz if your fsb is high. And possibly experiment with agp aperture size, but as long as it doesn´t have an wierd setting changing it will dot make any visible difference (can help if you are hunting for a couple of extra 3dmarks though). And I see no reason for changing the voltage.
