How far can you push your 9700Pro

I got a loan of a Sapphire last week and have decided to keep it. Last night was my first chance to start to push it and I was a bit disappointed in the results.

Specifically, with stock voltages and cooling it doesnt seem happy to go beyond 350ish core and 330ish memory. It's not bad, and I'm not complaining, but I'm sure I've seen guys on here approaching 400 core.

so, if you have a 9700 pro, or non pro for that matter, how far can you go? And how did you get there? Thanks in advance.

I used ATI Radeon 9700PRO before, but i m disappointed with it. It uses 3.6ns Ram and the Core/Mem is 275MHz/275MHz. (I dont know why it is Underclocked)

With that 3.6ns Ram, I can only oc it to 330/305. (not even equals to the stock speed)

9700pro oc'ing

my built by ati card....original first release does 405/364.5 with no artifacts at 1.88v vcore,vddq@ 3.19v, vddr@3.32v.
I soldered in fan plugs to plug in datel lcd displays (http://www.datel.com) for voltage monitoring so You dont have to fiddle with a multimeter and I used variable resistors for the vcore and the vddr. If you decide to go with those datel displays just be sure not to get the 2 wire versions because they draw from the circuit you are testing and that will cause instability.

Sounds like a 9700 (non pro) to me. no 9700pros should be shipped with any memory rated at 3.6ns

My 9700pro does 450/350 after the vgpu mod

You guys got some links for the volt mods ya did?
I've just been itching to do some (more) modding on this card, it'll run 400/350 with dd gpu block and tweakmonster sinks and still be cool to the touch and artifact free.

here ya go but make sure you have the cooling!!!! and if you want an alternative to using a handheld multi tester you can get dedicated voltage displays here...http://www.datel.com (dont get the 2 wire models as they draw from the line in which they are measuring and will effect you stability)

Many thanks for all that info guys.
Looks like the best option for me is to improve the cooling. Its one of the early sapphires which doesnt have the "custom" cooling and I don't trust myself not to kill it with a soldering iron.
