If I buy HL2, will a GF3 Ti200 be useless?
Howdy, virtual friends and neighbors! After seeing the promo "movie" for HL2, I got me a hankerin' fer that air game. I'm thinking that a GF3 Ti200 won't be good enough, if the game even runs on it!

I want to try an ATi Vidcard--but all I really know about them is that the 8500 LE is better than a 9000. Will HL2 run OK on a 9100, 9???, 9??? Advice humbly solicited. Thank you in advance!

Actually in the PC gamer article on HL2. Valve said they made the Source engine to be able to run on a TNT2 with a p3 550 and it can scale all the way up to taking advantage of the dx9+ features on recent videocards with a 3ghz p4. They said they did that so they dont lose the majority of their fanbase that still runs on sub 1ghz machines.
So it will run on a gf3 you just cant turn all the eye candy on like it was in that movie

Also I would wait until HL2 and DoomIII come out to upgrade video cards, that is only when we will really know what is enough.
