Unhappy sound/speaker probs - little help?

evening all - n00b here (my 1st post!) apologies but my 1st post is gonna be a bit of a whinge

found this place via the EPoX website, i was looking there cos i'm having some sound trouble with my new mobo, any assistance/ideas would be gratefully received

just bought & installed an EPoX 8RDA3+ mobo. i have creative 2.1 speakers which i've (obviously) connected up.

speaker set is 2 satellite speakers connected to subwoofer via phono connections, subwoofer connects to sound output via jackplug, so....just the one jackplug there

plug speakers in & set the sound output to 2 channel (using CMI 3d audio config tool)

....sound is lame no bass whatsoever

tried all the different software settings (2,4 or 6 channel, tried altering the levels etc, all i can manage is eiher no bass at all, or complete echo effect which sounds like i'm in a cave - even then the bass isn't pumping

speakers aren't the prob since i've built a system around my old mobo (MSI kt4ultra-sr) & they sound great on that, they're only 3 months old in any case.

even tried using a 2 x phono to 1 x jackplug adapter, plugging the satellites into the line out & the subwoofer into the...er, subwoofer...still sounds like i'm in a cave

anyone got any suggestions at all, before i scrap the mobo & go bavk to my trusty via400 mobo??

You should check the utility that came with the sound card. on mine it did not have the bass turned on or the 5.1 (i had 5.1 speakers but it was set only to two speakers no bass)

hope this helps good luck.
