agp card for 1ghz celeron

hi,

i have a friend that bought his parts 2-3 years ago and he finally put it together over the weekend. he thought the mobo had onboard video but it doesn't. he asked me to get a 4x agp card for his system; 1ghz celeron with 128 mb mem. he's not big on gaming but just something to get it working for win2k or linux. i first thought of getting a geforce2 mx card. the problem is the older cards are quite difficult to find online. i haven't checked ebay yet and newegg is limited when it comes to older vid cards.

any recommendations besides the geforce2 mx ? and if so, what's a good vendor?

If games isn't an issue, go for a Matrox Millennium card. And get him another stick of RAM, will ya?

He doesn't have access to the classy's yet. (I don't think) One place you could try is www.pricewatch.com. They list various video cards there, or you could try Best Buy for one of there "open box" specials.

Actually Newegg carries several OEM geForce 2 MX400 64MB AGP cards. Starting at around $32 shipped free.

I would spend a dollar more and get the Radeon 7000 though. They are known to have better 2D quality than the GF2MX cards and it also has DVI and TV out in addition to the standard VGA out.
