s-video out black and white

wondering if anyone else has had a problem like this?

When I use the tv-out function on my triplex parasouls 9600 pro, I cannot get the display to show colour, only black and white.

if i restart the pc it shows in colour while loading into windows but once it reaches my desktop it becomes black and white on the display from the tv out.

I have had no problems with the svga output

My card is clocked to 506 core and 345(ddr) memory

system is a epox 8rda+ rev2.0 with athlon2500+ running at 2255mhz with 512mb ddr400 twinmoss.

You won't get color on your TV out if there is something wrong with the color burst circuitry in the RF modulator. I haven't got the foggiest idea how to tell you to diagnose that without a 'scope though.

I've had a similar problem at a friend's house a long time ago. Turned out that we needed to change some settings in the On-screen menu on the TV...

If you're using the SVideo output, then ensure that the driver is set to produce SVideo instead of Composite. Also ensure that the encoding type is correct for your TV!

Both of these can cause the image to come out in black and white instead of colour.

If an NTSC signal is sent to a PAL TV the image is usually there but in black and white.

If you are in the UK your TV will be using PAL.

thanks for the help guys,
I will check the driver is set to provide s-video as i am using the s-video output.

I am in New Zealand where we use Pal however the television i am using is supposed to be compatible with either format.

Use PAL in preference to NTSC, if you can - better quality.

I used to work with TV monitors, video projection, etc. and I seem to remember that some NTSC 'compatible' equipment wasn't fully compatible and only worked in B/W.

There's some info here:
http://www.110220volts.com/FAG/WhatisNTSC.htm

and a thread discussing a similar problem to yours here:
http://forum.digital-digest.com/arch...ic/2353-1.html

Some guy, says he got a new cable to fix the problem.
