Unhappy NVIDIA XFX GeForce 6800 not working with Suse 9.1

I need help getting my NVIDIA XFX GeForce 6800 GT
graphics card to work with SuSe 9.1.
I have tried many times, with many different
configurations, but always the same result.
When I run SAX2 the XFX GeForce 6800 GT driver is not
listed and the card defaults to the default VESA card.

I have tried the following configurations, but alas
all with no joy.
1.YaST Online Update - installed the NVIDIA® Graphics
Driver

2. Recompiled the kernel, removing all references to
rivafb and installed 6111-pkg2

3. /etc/X11/XF86Config
Section "Device"
BoardName "ABit Siluro FX5200"
BusID "1:0:0"
Driver "nv"
Identifier "Device[0]"
VendorName "NVidia"
EndSection

edit the line marked "Driver" to read
Code:
Driver "nvidia"

My hardware is as follows:
Processor: AMD Athlon 64
Graphics Card: XFX GeForce 6800 GT
Motherboard: Asus K8VSE Deluxe (754)
HDD: Western Digital 160 GB SATA

So you have to wait until a good driver for this appears, huh?

The driver's fine. SaX2 sucks, though.

If instead of running SaX2, you try to start X after you change "nv" to read "nvidia", it'll work fine. If you really must use SaX2, you start it with the following command

sax2 -m 0=nvidia

This forces it to use the nvidia module, instead of ones from its (rather limited) db.
