Forceware 71.40

Has anyone tried these drivers? in 3dmark2003 I got a ~200 point boost up to 9447 at stock compared with the 66.93 drivers. In 2005 I got a ~600 point boost up to 3761 again at stock, thats 20%! I'm guessing there are some application optimisations at work here

doesn't appear as though these are perfect, in ut2004 I noticed this bug, basically this is the same screen shot but I move the mouse a little bit between them and it flicks back and forth between these images

I'm still using 71.24 How bad are the bugs in 71.40?

they're both the 71.40's it's the same game all I'm doing is moving the mouse slightly and the textures are glitching, looks like the detail textures are turning off or something pixel shader related.
the thing is this is the only bug I've found, and it only happens on this one level of ut2004 (junkyard) so I'm not 100% it's the drivers, I'll try some other out

ive tested all of the 7x.xx drivers to date and the best one from a quality standpoint is the forceware 71.21

so far ive tried

71.10
71.20
70.21 yellow water bug fixed
71.24 very fast
71.40
71.50

on my card (6800GT) the 71.xx series gave better performance and MUCH better image quality particularly in the aniso filtering department than the 6x.xx series.

the fastest for me is the 71.24 series, and even better, the valance studios modified 71.24s are downright amazing.

theres about 12 extremely talented modders out there at the moment making nvidias driver crew look like complete amateurs.

the newest and best for quality is the 71.21 which fixes a big with the 71.xx series where the water in HL2 looks like dark yellow dog piss.
if your on a nv4x or nv3x go for the 71.24 valance studios extreme G driver and you will not regret it. man up and accept driving your airboat on urine and feel the speed


PS be AWARE of what your downloading. there are some absolute morons releasing moddified nvidia drivers claiming 40% performance gains on 6800 series cards. they DO work. but they overclock your card based on how far they predict it will go and then report FALSE readings of stock gpu/mem speed in rivatuner/driver applet. Noob coders with no optimisation abilities and high end video cards do not mix. period.

I don't know whats causing it, maybe its my drivers, but a lot of the blood on the walls and floor(be funny if I didn't explain more...) in Vampire Bloodlines appears in lines, and the other lines that make up the splotch are almost clipped into the wall, so when I turn or run more, they appear, the others disappear. I'll try some of these drivers and see if that helps. I'm using 66.93's

I'm not much of a challenge, I still play Far cry and UT! LOL
6800 GT card, no Overclock. If someone can give me a URL I'll upload the the valance studios 71.24 for myself and others. Thanks dsio!

Ok theres the oddest bug in these drivers in 3d mode, say farcry, my core temps are about 55C, on the desktop they are 60C and it only happens with these drivers (modded 71.24's, and it's not an error in the reporting as the card is warmer to touch.
anyone else get this?

I'm still using the standard 71.24's didn't see this on my 8K5a+. But I've just moved my 6800GT over to my 8KDA3J AND uploaded a the new Motherboard BIOS so very hard for me to say as sloppy is my middle name in this things.":O}

its the oddest thing, playing a game it reaches 55C, watching a video, even windowed it reaches 50C doing nothing it's pushing 60
