Cool What do you reckon - Leadtek 6600GT TDH

Ive just ordered a Leadtek 6600 GT TDH.

What do you guys reckon, am i a fool or is it a good card.

Im getting it real cheap compared to retail.

Ive seen very good reviews on the net, but also some forums reckon they have problems. Also, theyre dead ugly, but who cares, you dont see them.

What do you think?

Ive already commented on leadtek as a company and their products in general in another thread, Leadtek A400LE GeForce 6800LE but ill say it again. Leadtek are making some very high quality products at the moment.

They are a company with a rather bad reputation from many years ago that they are working to get rid of. Their Geforce 3 and older cards left a lot to be desired, with shoddy workmanship and poor engineering, particularly in the cooling area, not to mention bundles and performance that were simply below par.

since the Geforce 4 series, Leadtek have tried alot harder to make themselves known for quality and performance, and to be honest they have done an extremely good job. Back two or three years, if i was asked to name the top 3 vendors, ASUS, MSI, and ABIT would have been at the top of my list. At the moment, the top 3 in my book are ASUS, Albatron, and Leadtek.

The 6600GT is the best GPU in its category by a very big margin. It puts both the X600 and X700 to shame, and has the full feature set of the Geforce 6 series, and on top of that, a good brand like Leadtek is a great choice.

Nobody who owns a Geforce 6 series has regretted making the purchase.

I've just replaced my faulty 9800pro @ XT with a leadtek 6600GT and it wipes the floor with the ati card. I get about an extra 1200 points in 3d mark 03 with the 6600gt and it was free swap for my pro card!

you're looking at around 2-3x the performance of a 9600XT with that card, even more in pixel shader intensive stuff, and nvidia haven't finished optimising their drivers yet so performance will continue to increase as time goes on.

ASUS Radeon 9600XT vs Leadtek 6600GT/TDH

So I got the new card and here are the results, with the same system and latest drivers at default settings.

Windows XP Home
Athlon XP64 Socket 754 Clawhammer
1048MB RAM
K8T800 Mobo

With 9600xt
3dMark 05 = 1816
3dMark 01 SE = 14060

Leadtek 6600GT TDH
3dMark 05 = 3243
3dMark 01 SE = 17317

Does anyone know if there is a good benchmarking tool that will take advantage of the Windows XP64 operating system and athlon xp64 processor?

AMD's nBench is good. Although completely biased towards AMD.

The 3dmark software should run under windows xp, though don't expect much gain due to the video card being the bottleneck mostly.

Hey dsio I just noticed something in your sig:

2600Mhz (260 x 10) Gigabyte Rocket Cooling 1.5 volts (40% OC)

surely thats a 30% overclock?

I changed the sig, because since ive taken out some case fans and put the HSF on low speed to keep the noise down. Guess i forgot to change that. Will do!
