New Toy : Logitech Mx1000 mouse

Many months back there was a news posting on this very forum of logitech's new wireless laser mouse.
Well with my ageing microsoft intelimouse explorer about to give up the ghost I decided to splash out and treat myself on one seeing my right hand spends many hours a day attached to the things.

I was going to get an mx700 but when I did a price comparison there was only a few squid in it between the two. and when your spending £45 whats £2

Anyhow, first impressions *wow* The difference is stunning, no anoying cord, and no lag either, good weight very accurate and responsive.

I'll do a more in depth review in a few days when i've had chance to settle in and would rather do somthing other than coursework

I think Logitech makes some of the best keyboards and mice...though a little bit expensive...I have an MX310 mouse at home...and I really miss that thing at my work place

I've had the laser mouse for a while, it's amazing! Overclockers.co.uk were doing a deal on it a while back. Battery lasts for ages between recharges too.

How do you mean? When you row it? I haven't noticed any lag at all, even when coming out of 'standby' mode - after not moving it for a certain period of time it turns the laser on the mouse off to save power. It comes back on instantly though and doesn't cause a problem. It wouldn't be an issue anyway because you'd almost always be moving the mouse lots in any game where any lag would have an effect.

when they first came out I got one and the laser would go off if you picked it up more than about an eighth of an inch and would take about a quarter second to start tracking once back down, it drove me mad in games since I row (reposition the mouse on the pad) alot!!

traded it for an MX510 and am all happy with it except the cord

There were quite alot of people with the same issue as SJ when they were first released.

Mine works fine. They've probably sorted the problem out by now.

I have a MX 510 for my third rig, a wonderful MX 1000 for my second, and a Amazing MX 518 for my A64. Love them all!

The Warden is fond of her two MS Explorers (4.0A) and her MX 700.

The MX series truly is brilliant. Nobody who buys one ever regrets it.

Some of logitech's cheaper wireless nice still have the crappy reaction times and bad tracking problems however, so precision is still something that has to be payed for.

Yes I believe they have fixed the problem as my laser doesnt fully shut off imediatly upon removal from surface, from the fact i've been able to turn it upside down and get a glimpse of it hehe. I think it goes into some lowish power mode. there certainly isnt any lag

I tried rowing mine too no problems, I got my 1000 within a week or two of them being out, The Warden had it for a while and I just got it from her a couple of weeks ago. I am using setpoint 2.3
