77.13 Forceware Driver Released

Nvidia have released the newest generation of video card driver to coincide with the launch of the 7800GTX, Codename: G70 at Computex in Taiwan.

These drivers are performance wise, considerably faster than the current generation of 76 series drivers, with improvements in 3DMark05 and 3DMark03, but more importantly have Image Quality improvements. Aliasing seams to have improved in game, and sharpness has improved as well, particularly in Counter-Strike: Source.

There seams to be a considerable performance improvement in Shader Model 3.0 applications, particularly High Dynamic Range Lighting. This is no doubt the first of many Shader Model 3.0 improvements that will be comming our way.

It should also be noted that the Nvidia 7800 is essentially a performance improvement on the existing Geforce 6 series, and as such, and and all future driver releases that benefit the 7800, will have equal performance gains in 6 series cards.

These are some must have drivers, cant wait for the modified version!

There is no doubt an Xtreme G modified version of this driver in the works, so we might see it within the next few days. Would be cool if someone could change the sticky for me too

Rondog, having an ATI rules type avatar, and owning an ATI 9600, is kind of like having a "NISMO PERFORMANCE" sticker, on the back of your Datsun 120Y.

Poking fun at Ron's so called 3D card aside, these drivers are not released by nvidia officially, and are leaked at events, such as computex, where they use their newest and best drivers to show up competitors. Nvidia also leaks drivers constantly just to keep the owners of their cards interested. And yea, it works.

By the way, the improvements in Nvidia drivers that we continue to see are not actually poor optimisation at the time of initial release. As games change, and appear, improvements for them are incorporated into the Forceware driver. This particularly applies to a game such as Counter-Strike: Source, which is an ever changing beast.

Are the drivers made by nVidia yet?

Dont ATi release there drivers on their website?

BTW: Do I remember correctly...you have uploaded ATi Drivers to AOA before?

Yes, all drivers that are labeled as Nvidia Forceware, and that I list simply as Nvidia Forceware on the files site, are genuine releases made by Nvidia. All Geforce drivers are made by Nvidia. Modified drivers, are still Nvidia drivers, only the files have been tweaked slightly to improve performance, usually in specific games or rendering modes. Both Nvidia and ATI make hundreds of Alpha and Beta drivers that we never see. Nvidia has a tendencey to leak whatever it is that they are working on, once they know it is absolutely stable and reliable. This means we are kept on the cutting edge of what they have to offer.

Secondly, no ATI do not only release drivers on their website, they also release them unofficially. I downloaded and uploaded the ATI Catalyst 5.5 drivers, 4 hours after they were leaked, and we had them for a day or two before they were even announced by ATI let alone released on their website. ATI have done this in the past and leaked drivers before their release date, and we have had them before ATI released them before as well.

Finally, yes I do upload ATI drivers. What most people who hear me talking about Nvidia cards dont know is that I in fact own a top end ATI card, in the ATI X800 Pro VIVO edition. The card unlocked to 16 pipes and ran close to XTPE speed when it was running windows, but it now runs Mandrake Linux 10.1 as my DVD player, video editing, and HTPC machine. Unfortunately, running linux limits it to 12 pipes again, and the driver support is not great, so it has limited gaming use, but as a VIVO capable card, with video decoding abilities, it is a more than capable card.

It does have a Windows 2000 Pro hard disk in it as well, and when mates come over to LAN, it becomes the second gaming machine. Due to this I do keep up with ATI files to a degree.

Aside from that, my current job entails keeping the files section up to date, and as part of that, I like to have the best new downloads, before anyone else has them.

Good news for you!

To qualify, Dave was about to upload the 5.5 Catalysts not long after I uploaded them, and he in fact uploads all of the various Catalyst versions that I miss.

Mate, ive had ATIs since the original Radeon DDR. Ive still got a 7000, a 9000, a motherboard with a 9100IGP, and the newish X800 Pro. I personally cant get as much out of ATI cards, as I can out of their Nvidia equivilant. I know ATI cards reasonably well, though not as well as Dave knows them. Nvidia on the other hand, ive been using and tuning since the TNT2, and over the years I became quite good at it. Even if I had an X850XTPE and a 6800 Ultra Extreme, I would still use the 6800, because given my knowledge of both cards, I could still push the 6800 further.

For the record, I also have an SIS Xabre, a Kyro, a 3DLabs Oxygen, an S3 Savage4 and an old Millenium G400 dual head Matrox. I keep all my junk

These gave a lill better score in AquaMark3 than the XG/76.45b's.

XG 76.45b- 43,726

Forceware 77.13- 43,755

I use Aquamark3 because it does not take as long to BM when checking drivers.

Cant wait for th XG's

Just so you guys know, Daishi and JRd1st are the Authors of the TweaksRUs.com Xtreme-G drivers, so they have a better idea of release dates than I do lol. Nice to see you Daishi, we all hope you stick around

Rest assured, there are alot of people waiting on your next release.

Yea, its a measure to prevent spammers / commercial advertisers from causing too much trouble. 25 posts comes rather quickly though. By the way, dont forget to get onto some TweaksRUs graphics for us to use. Gizmo has already gotten onto that with your mate JRd1st I think.
