Thumbs up Perfect WMP9 settings

Hi all,
I belive i have found the perfect WMP 9 sound settings for songs like those from NFSU. Here they are:

Equalizer settings

31Hz: -6
62: 1
125: 7
250: 6
500: -1
1KHz: 5
2: 5
4: -4
8: -6
16KHz: 9

SRS WOW Effects settings:

On --> Normal Speakers
TruBass: 55
WOW Effect: 55

I've only tested this in WMP9 with standard multimedia speakers and it does sound a bit crackly because they aren't meant to handle settings like this but on speakers a bit more powerful such as 2.1 or even 5.1, it would probably sound perfect. Could anyone test these settings out and report back.

Thanks,
Scott.

It's unlikely such specific settings transfer well between setups, most speakers are coloured, i.e. don't offer a flat response and so differant speakers are weighted towards differant frequency ranges, coupled with room acoustics, speaker positioning and differant sound sources and basically you have a completely unpredictable task when it comes to tweaking something like that.

This is why the THX aproval system is pointless on speaker and sound cards, as unless the lab men come to your house, position and test everything them selfs, it's not up to THX standards

I was trying to find globally ideal settings where some setups would be one end of the scale, others would be towards the middle (the 'good' area) and others would be at the other end of the useability scale. There would be exceptions probably but yeah, there are many things to consider.

What Graham is trying to point out is that one manufacturer's speakers sound very different to anothers. That on it's own is enough to totally change the equalisation needed. When you then add in the fact that the room itself also changes the frequency response hugely, it makes it very difficult to pass settings between systems.

If everyone had a properly tuned system, so that both the room accoustics and the speaker frequency response were taken into account, then it would be much easier to do what you're trying to do!
