Exclamation Nvidia washed out video problem solution

If you are having problems with washed out video on you nvidia graphics card using the latest drivers 77.xx - 80.40. Here is the solution:-

NOTE: Please download the 77.76 drivers from here. These are the official bugfix drivers and will not require you to do the following, however if you are still having the same problem (you shouldn't be if the drivers have been installed correctly) then follow the rest of this post.

Click 'Advanced' in your display properties window.

Then click color correction from the slide-out menu and set the top drop down menu to 'All' and the bottom drop down menu to 'Advanced' and click apply.

You're all done.

Yea it should be a sticky really. Thanks for making a visual explanation of that fix, ive had to tell about 5 people now how to do that. Shame Nvidia cant just work stuff out faster.

The other fix is for when you have corrupted Mpeg and DVD (and some other formats). You have to go into video overlays, and click on "Enable VMR"

This turns purevideo hardware acceleration off in those effected areas. Maybe you can do a few shots of that too?

I've never seen any difference between this card and my mx440 on video quality, only the gamma bug. Even after i fix the bug the video just looks as good as it always has...

NVidia have released a reg file to fix the problem

You can download it here
http://nvidia.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/n...674869&p_olh=0
or make your own reg file by adding the following

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak\Defaults\Overlay]
"OverlayGamma"=dword:00000000

Works a treat for me
