| 7800gt...week or two. 7600 and 7200's to follow around september, from what iu hear, but that could all be CRAP! http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video/d...705093528.html

| It took awhile for the full range of 6800's to become available and in good quantities. About a few months I think. Does anyone know if the 7800 will ever be AGP?

| If there is sufficient demand for it then there will likely be a bridged version. |

| or not. no need...when you wan to push an emerging technology, you don't support the old. There may be AGP versions of the "7200" or "7600", but the 7800GTX would require a huge PCB re-work to make the move to AGP. Seeing how ATI has patents on the PCI-E to AGP interface bridge, it may be impossible for Nvidia to use a bridgechip, which may mean that they would have to make a whole new GPU for AGP as well. At this stage in the game, this does not make good business sense, even if the AGP market is as large as it is, because the majority of those that are going to spend the top dollar on a videocard just aren't going to using AGP, unless it's for a dothan rig, whose set-up for overclocking is not for the timid. This leaves the mid-level mainstream cards as possible AGP parts, as the costs incurred by the platform change are less, and the majority of the market is still in AGP at that level, at least for the time being. By the end of september, that may all change, so it remians a waiting game on the 7200/7600 AGP.

| http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=24391 According to Inq, no AGP version, as always interpret info from Inq how you want.

| Putting this card on an AGP motherboard is akin to putting steel wheels and bald tyres on a venturi. Top end means top end, not upgrade solution. If you can afford the $600 for the card, then you can afford another $90 for a cheap PCI-E mobo. They are still refusing to sell Pitch a 7800 until he waives his RMA rights.

| 8x AGP could handle it quite happily - the loading on AGP isn't as high as some people would like to make out. On the other hand, the top cards are usually worth less than 2% of the market, so it's a huge investment for fairly little return!

| It is possible for someone to use the AGP/PCI-E bridge chip that nVidia came up. That would span the gap between AGP and PCI-E well enough. Wonder if nVidia would get too upset if someone did that?

| The Inquirer article seems to indicate that ATI intends to put the R520 onto AGP cards with it's bridge chip. Wouldn't that fact alone obligate nVidia to do so? Just a thought.
