Is my X800 an X800GTO?

I have a Sapphire X800 that I bought around August. I'm not real sure if it's always said this, but after installing the 5.11 drivers I checked dxdiag to make sure everything was in order. Again, I've never checked dxdiag before these drivers, so I'm not sure if this is a direct cause of the new drivers. Anyways, this is what I found: (see below)

Do I have an X800 in disquise or what? If so, does this mean I have any unlocking capabilities?

all 12-pipe x800's are x800GTO's. it's only the name that is new. the driver has always simply reported x800series for anything other than 16 pipes, most likely becasue this is what they intended to do from the start.

And yes, it might unlock. Pics of the card with heatsink removed, pls.

Alright. Taking off heatsink now. You want the thermal paste wiped away, correct? Oh, and there is no PCI-E power connector on it. Should we stop before I go any further?

ATtool will tell you whether your card is moddable or not.

On the following page :
http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/...ng/vidcard/127

read the bottom of the page and it explains what you are looking for.

I guess Connect 3D X800GTO's can unlock to X850XT's and then Sapphire X800GTO2's can unlock to X850XT's, so I thought there might be a chance if my card was a GTO of some kind. But now it's confirmed that it can't unlock according to ATITool .25 Beta 8.

depends on brand name. the powercolour GTO's are R423 chips, and can be modded to X800XT's or X800XTPE's, while the Sapphire Fireblade, and Sapphire GTO2 can both be modded to X850XT. The difference between the Fireblade and GTO2's however, is that the GTO2's are guaranteed to mod to 16pipes, while the fireblade cards havea 98% successrate so far(over 70+ cards).

The remaining GTO's feature random 12-pipeline chipsets, and ram, mostly being of the 2.0ns variety. This is what sets the fireblade apart from the other regular sapphire GTO as well...all Fireblade models have 1.6ns ram, and are guaranteed to overclock to 560mhz++.

The GT models, all feature 8 pipelines, although there are one or two out there that can be modded to 16 pipes, dependant on branding, once again.

The moddibility is what amkes a GTO different from an x800pro, as well as price currently, although htat should all level out in the new year.

Have you cleaned off the core and taken a peak, also, like posted above, a good mod board will carry the Samsung 1.6ns Ram, identical the VIVO models.

It will definately not unlock unless it is either the Connect 3D card of the Sapphire GTO2.
Sorry.
It is also not quite the same as a GTO card either.
Also, having no PCI-E power connector severely limits your oc'ing ability.
So all in all, it's a bit of a nail in the coffin.
But an X800 is an X800, and it's a great card. :-)
