AsusTek Overclocked ATI X1800XT

Digitimes is reporting that AsusTek will be releasing their overclocked ATI X1800XT in mid-December. Some of you may be aware that ATI recently began working with certain vendors to produce overclocked versions of the X1800XT. The stipulation is that the vendor of the card takes on all support issues, and ATI will not accept warranty for boards that are damaged due to overclocking.

Anybody planning on getting one?

Today I was reading a bit of news and it seems that 7800 GTX 512 MB gave a slap in the face to ATI X1800 XT....

"As we can see in our tests without AA, the 7800 GTX is locked in a dead heat with the X1800 XT, and the 7800 GTX 512 simply dominates both by more than 30%. This is a huge win for NVIDIA's new part given the popularity of this game."

My understanding of the current situation is that although the X1800XT and the 7800GTX are pretty close performance-wise, the 7800GTX has more overclocking capability. Is that about the size of it?

I've been considering it...but i hope to wait to r580. I'm trying to offload one vidcard tho, and go to 512 GTX's as my EVGA card offers trade-up, so that might put a kink in the x1800xt plans.

I doubt it but it's worth looking around for some kind of deal.

Apparently so. The x1800xt is overclocking well, but not to the extremes it should...to the point that sub-zero cooling is a random affair.

I await R580.
