7800GT should be $100 cheaper and run just as fast if not faster while consuming less space, less power, and doesn't require an SLI motherboard.

I dissagre the two GS will outpreform it. I saw twp 6800 preforming slightly over a 7800GT at digital life 2005.
However I would go for the 7800GT for the fact it's not worth the extra.

well the dual 6800gs is gana be 100bucks more than the 7800gt, im getting the sli mobo cuz i found a really nice kickass deal. Asus mobo with good features socket 939 and 1gig ram stick for 800bucks. oops i forgot and a athlon 64 fx55 :P i checked the price just for the cpu and it was the same as the combo. actualy the combo is like 20 bucks more, but im saving something around 200 bucks so thats nice. then came the gfx thought in my head which is a problem as usual and i just wana get something that will perform nice. if this will help y dont u guys look at the specs for the gfx card?

take the gt, and be happy. less powerload and parts to deal with with a gt, which should retain a bit more value than the 6800GS will

the gs's are both 12 pipes, 7800 is 24 pipe if i am not mistaken...i think it would be VERY similar, if not a small lead by the 7800 because of its clock speeds the gs's arent that good, 2 gt's or ultras however would be a different story i believe

The two 6800gs cards would be slightly faster than the single 7800gt, however the single 7800gt is the sensible option, it leaves a much better upgrade path.

gt has 20 pipes, gtx has 24 pipes.
but being that sli doesn't give full performance on both cards (thus 1+1=1.8 instead of 2) the performance will be very similar, not to mention the 7800gt is cheaper, newer, and probably going to choke less with detail turned up than dual 6800gs's which are a re-released older core.
