Talking 6800GS in SLI

Hey guys,

Just picked u another XFX 6800GS to give SLI a shot. Stock voltage and Stock cooling. I think this is the second highest score in the World with a set of GS cards. These cards have carved aniche in the sub $200 region. Certainly lot more left in 'em. Not maxed out yet.

At stock settings:

I think this system should last me for a while. I've burned enough money on it as it is. What I fail to understand is that why the overpriced 6800GT still exists?

If you notice, the 6800GS AGP is the NV40 Core, same as the GT but with pipes masked. That's why you can unlock it to a GT. It also runs hot like the GT (130nm). The AGP version cannot be clocked as high as the PCIE (NV42, 110nm) version.

The reason I jumped at another GS is because, it will be phased out soon. It was meant to be an x1600 killer, albeit astop-gap arrangement. Now that the 7800GS is out and the 7900 is on the horizon, there should be no need for this card to be in the market.

You know you can upload the images directly to the forum, rather than using a third party host? That way, you don't get the "Expired Image" stuff come up.

Nice cards though! Makes my 6800GT look hot and expensive!

Thanks for the heads up

The 6800GT is an overpriced card. However, hindsight is always 20/20, right? Anybody opting for a GT, NOW, as their first choice card, ought to be shot and their money transferred to my bank account!

I was afraid my Fortron Bluestorm wouldn't cut it after a few non-boots and lock-ups. Turns out that you HAVE to reinstall drivers to be on the safe side. Installed the latest WHQL drivers and its been smooth sailing. Too bad my low end LCD (16ms, 200:1 contrast) can't keep up, despite the VSync lock at 75Hz. I do see occasional tearing when I game.

Mate, what kind of a computer is in your sig. Never heard of that hardware. Is it something super expensive and exotic?
