stabalized the sapphire x1800xtpe bios, now I can run that bios and ati tool without having to worry about temp.

WHich brand did you get again? are your supplied drivers 5.8 too, ive been told it will be next month before new official drivers supporting the x1900's will be released but still pretty impressed all the same got it at 729/891 running sweet as

Sapphire X1900XT, and was supplied with 5.8s. And yes, the performance is nuts. FEAR just feels so smooth.

I havn't tried much overclocking yet. What did you use to overclock, ATitool/SysTool or something else?

A new set of bug fix / performance enchancing drivers once a month is quite good imho, and when they find somthing special they do a beta version, last year they couldnt wait to release an avivo driver so there was a 2nd release in december.
Seems much more predictable than nvidia drivers i think

Atitool to set voltages, and another tool to change the actual clockspeeds. I have given the tool to Brad, but haven't had a chance to talk to him about how well it has worked for him. I'm on dial-up ATM, so i cannot uplaod the tool for now.

Using the tool, you must manually set the cloackspeeds, and not use the provided sliders. this means you must actually type the numerical value on the boxes provided EACH TIME FOR BOTH THE GPU AND RAM. (IE setting 700 gpu/700 ram, you must enter tha values for both, even if the ram was previously @ 700).

the best test for stabilty/artifacts ATM has yet to be unveiled. suffice it to say you'll be able to overclock and bench your new ATI x1900 cards @ far higher speeds then what you can use them for 24/7 use. Please also be advised that setting higher-than standard votlages can deteriorate the card's voltage regulation circuit...to the point that a single run on 3dmark can kill teh card, if it is set too high.

I'm investigating further into this, but my current situation only provides so much time for such escapades.

Proper driver support for ANY X1xxxseries card only comes with the driver supplied on the cd. Even the x1300/x1600 cards are subject to rendering anomalies that are present only in recent revisions of the catalyst driver. I expect this issue to remain for a few months for all cards. That being said, you can expect support for newer cards to be sporadic at best, as is the current case with the x1900 and the 6.1's, but please bear in mind that the driver debuted before the card did, so inclusions as supported cards were missing intentionally.
