TweaksRUs 83.20 XG Driver

The JRd1st and Daishi have done a particularly good job on this new Xtreme-G driver.

The 83.20 set was originally for laptops, and Geforce 6 6800GS cards only. Pieter from Laptopvideo2go did a great job of applying his home rolled .inf to make it usable on all Nvidia cards, before it recieved the XG V2 treatment.

Its a very stable set, with top notch image quality, and very nice performance. In game it feels smoother than the 81.xx and 82.xx drivers, and in benchmarks (predictably 3DMark06/05) it gives some gains, varying from card to card. My 6800GT jumped a good 40 points in '06, which is decent given the effort required for every point.

Highly Recommended.

Been playing with these drivers for the last few hours, very good set with nice fluid motion in-game, they seem to make good use of lighting compared to the last couple of sets.
They are on a par with the 77.76/77.77xg drivers in my opinion.

Nice one guys

Would you recommend it for a 6800U?

Yeap. If it works well on a 6800GT, it will work well on a U for sure.

Just out of interest what drivers were all you guys using?

I'm on 81.85.

Haven't looked at drivers in ages, been too busy work-wise to play games.

I've been on the 77.76 XGs for a while, as they simply have been the best for a while. These are the first since then that are definately better.

Hopefully 3DMark06 will be the start of more driver changes

I hope that's the case, only as long as it doesn't mean the drivers become optimised just for 3DMark06, rather than the games I play.
