But all the mods must be home made. No bought mods, because in the period that machine existed, bought mods didn't exist.

It has to be ghetto, but not sloppy ghetto. More like ghetto chic.

I do have an old mid tower case and the colour is... beige!! Unfortunately I don't have the time or the tools to mod the case. Especially time, with two kids and a full time job...

But the voodoos are gonna get the treatment they deserve, could you guys do a listing of the top 10 best glide games ever made?

Counter-Strike
Starseige: Tribes (Must get)
Quake
Quake II
Unreal Tournament
Unreal
Half-Life
Day of Defeat
Kingpin: Life of Crime
Sin

Glide is a bit more flexible than most people think. Its just a cutdown version of OpenGL that limits the possible calls to the API to allow everything to be done by the limited and non-programmable hardware.

So Glide/MiniGL/OpenGL games should all work with it.

I remember that back in '99 when I used these voodoos I played:
SWAT 3
Hidden & Dangerous
Colin Macrae Rally
Rollcage
MDK2
Alien Vs. Predator (scared the living daylights out of me)
and everything ran like butter with my P2 350MHz. I guess that with the Celly 300A@450 things will be even better, right?

Wing Commander III & IV and Wing COmmander:Prophecy all looked their best in Glide. I still have my DOS box around, haven't had the time to mod the case or anything yet. If you still have the P2-400, bench those procs I'm betting the 400 will outperform that 300A Celly

The Pentium 2 400 shouldnt beat a 300A overclocked to its normal 450Mhz. Though its only a celeron, its 128Kb of cache was running at the <full> core speed, while the pentium 2's much bigger cache was running at half core speed.

The much faster cache latencey generally made up for the lack of quantity in the cele, and allowed it to put the P2 in its place, particularly when you step on the throttle.

Just got my hands on an ASUS P3B-F, the Rolls Royce of i440BX boards. Now I need some time on my hands to put this stuff together...

Here are the pics of the P3B-F. I also have this P3 550MHz with a gorgeous heatsink but I think the Celly 300A is more of a "classic" what do you think?

well the component list would be mouth-watering for most of us back in '98:

ASUS P3B-F mobo
Celeron 300A
256Mb 133MHz SDR ram
agp ATI rage2c 4Mb (for 2D only)
2x Diamond Monster Voodoo2 12Mb
Sound Blaster AWE64 value
8.4Gb seagate HDD
24x creative CD rom drive
10/100 NIC
350W supply

How much would this rig cost back then?

Doubla Voodoo trouble...

My pick would definitively be Longbow 2, or Joint Strike Fighters... Glide was invented for those... he he...
