My card was the equivilant of about $180US from the disty. Still isn't here yet. You will find the 128 bit memory bus doesnt come into it as much as you would expect without a fair bit of AA.

What about increasing resolution though? Anywho, doing a little thinking. I thought ATI was hurting(financially) using the R520 process? Then why would they base the GTO on the 1800? Could they not have simply used the X1900 PCB and then disabled either some pipelines, Shaders or a combination of both to achieve a desired midranged card?

I'm still weary of ATI I think they did a bad job with the 260's card. it may be powerful but everything is plasticly I'll see if this changes but it tells me something.

Can you think of any more reasons to hate ATi?

I don't hate them anymore I'm just see no reason to like them. Nvidia fixed this a bit of time ago. GRAW doesn't have this to much but most other games I[ve seen. My only problem with them is thier high end doesn't match up. P.S. I'm still pissed of how they never answered my HDTV tunner qeurys.

I'm emailing this thread to ATI's support department. If their chips are "plasticy", they should definately be notified about it.

See, this is the kind of constructive criticism that ATI could use. I'll forward it to their marketing department as well.

http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16814131005 Already at $439, thats $60 less than what it was a week ago. I"m sure We'll see at least one more cut within two weeks. I've made up my mind, and I'll be ordering an X1900 around the 25th. Quick question. Opty 146 or 3700+??? There the exact same price ($212) on newegg. Factor in all the possibilites and end results (overclocking mainly) What would be the better buy?

yeah, but i'm an nvidia guy (not a fanboy) although i have heard that ATi cards are better at Direct X processing whereas Nvidia cards excel at OpenGl games. Anyone care to confirm?

7900's do not feature AA and HDR. they are waste of time. new card, no new features...what's the point? r520 cost so much becasue yeilds are low. R580, even though it's larger, is cheaper.
