Personally, I'm only loyal to a brand for as long as they are competitive. The reason I have tended to stick with Nvidia, is that I know Nvidia cards extremely well. As a result, I can tune, overclock, and driver match any Nvidia card to get the absolute peak performance out of it. If I had both cards, I could get more out of the 7900GTX, simply because I am more familiar with them. Similarly, if Dave had both, he would pull far more performance out of the X1900XT, because he knows ATI cards and drivers so well.
